inance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati jokingly requested a student named Anak Agung I Yuri Pratista on Sunday to create a special bag to help her carry "trillion of rupiah" in banknotes.
The minister made the joke in a caption for a series of photos uploaded onto her Instagram account @smindrawati, showing her with 20 finalists of 2018 Kalbe Junior Scientist Award (KJSA).
Yuri, who created a special bag named KIBAS, or Kurangi Beban Tas (reduce the bag's load), which can make the load feel lighter, was one of 20 finalists who had the chance to show their work to the minister during a sharing session of the 2018 KJSA held in Jakarta on Friday.
“To Yuri who has made a load-reducing bag, I asked her to make a similar bag for me, as I carry trillions of rupiah [in bills] as a finance minister,” Sri Mulyani wrote in the caption.
Another three creations that were shown to the minister were the Urine Smart protector by Matahari Terbit, Tooth Brush Dry by Alya Kusumah Nurjannah, and APPLE or Alat Pencuci Piring Portable (portable dishwasher) by Dian Isma Khairani.
The photos have received more than 19,000 likes as of Monday evening.
An account named @desilusiasitumorang commented: “Apparently, Bu Finance Minister can make a joke.”
Another account @prima.hrysa also commented, “Cool, Bu. To be honest, I laughed when I read paragraph five in your caption.”
In the same post, Sri Mulyani expressed her hope that the sharing session would motivate the young finalists to pursue even greater achievements.
“I am so happy because Indonesia has smart children like these, and to all the teachers who accompanied them, I congratulate you on their outstanding achievements,” she said. (sau)
