acebook's messaging platform, WhatsApp, was recently named the most downloaded app in 2018, so far collecting more than 779 million downloads by iOS and Android users.

In the report released by app analysis service company Apptopia as quoted by tempo.co, Helix Jump was also named the most downloaded game app with more than 334 million downloads.

"This addictive game from Voodoo, Helix Jump, collected more downloads compared to Fortnite and PUBG Mobile," said Apptopia vice president Adam Blacker in the report.

Other apps mentioned in the report are music app Spotify, which has been downloaded 206 million times; shopping app Wish (197 million downloads); entertainment app Netflix (209 million downloads); travel app Uber (171 million downloads); and food and beverage app Uber Eats (71 million downloads).

"Facebook as a parent company currently leads the rest, having six of its apps in the top 10 social app category," said Blacker. "Meanwhile Snapchat is four points below TikTok, followed by Twitter and Vigo Video."

Among Facebook apps that entered the list were WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Facebook, Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite. (kes)
