Following the success of Dilan 1990, Max Pictures is set to release a sequel to the movie Dilan 1991 on Feb. 28.
"Dilan 1991 will be released on Feb. 28 after completing production," said Max Pictures producer Ody Mulya as quoted by tempo.co.
The first movie, adapted from a novel by Pidi Baiq, became one of Indonesia's most successful films, attracting more than 6 million moviegoers.
Iqbaal Ramadhan and Vanesha Prescilla will reprise their roles as Dilan and Milea, respectively, in the sequel, which took 41 days to shoot in Bandung and Jakarta.
Director Fajar Bustomi is optimistic that the upcoming movie will entertain fans of the first film. "Hopefully the post-production process will be a smooth one, so we will have a good film that makes many people happy," he said.
Meanwhile Iqbaal said filming was fun, despite having to do it amid rain.
"It was quite interesting as [I] had to remind [myself] of when we shot the first film to build an emotional connection," said Iqbaal. (kes)
