The 11th Global Space and Technology Convention (GSTC) is being held at The St. Regis Singapore hotel in Singapore from Feb. 14 to 15.
Hosted by the Singapore Space and Technology Association (SSTA), which focuses on developing Singapore’s space and related high technology industries, the convention aims to create a platform for Asian space industries and bring together leaders in the space field for a comprehensive overview in innovation and application areas, according to a statement received by The Jakarta Post.
Themed “Pushing the Innovation Frontier”, this year’s event will discuss various topics related to the space industry, including business opportunities, capital financing in space, disaster relief applications and space commercialization.
During the first day of the convention, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by SSTA and Space and Aeronautics Association of Indonesia (SAAI), a nonprofit organization that focuses on the development of Indonesia’s space technology industry.
Signed by SAAI president Rusmin Widjaja and SSTA president Jonathan Hung, the collaboration is expected to support the two countries’ industries and talent development programs related to aerospace and astronautics.
The MoU is also expected to lead to the creation of a platform for knowledge sharing related to the space industry, environmental protection initiatives and encourage technological innovations.
Various other events will also be held at the convention, such as those related to the Asian space industry and technology, including NewSpace Launchers and Missions, the Singapore Space Challenge (SSC) Award Ceremony and Start-up Pitching.
The latter will enable space technologies and satellite applications start-ups to pitch and share the information about their companies to a selected panel comprising industry experts and angel investors. (jes/kes)
