English rock band Suede has been announced as one of the performers at the 17th Soundrenaline Music Festival.

Soundrenaline is known as one of the premier music events in Indonesia. The event has been known to showcase huge international artists. Last year it featured Grammy nominee Limp Bizkit as headliner.

This year’s festival will take place at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in Bali on Sept. 7 and 8.

Alongside mainstream global acts, the festival is also known for showcasing music talents in the country as well as from across Southeast Asia.

Soundrenaline 2019 director Widi Puradiredja told a press conference that Suede would be a perfect fit for one of the festival’s goals, which is to touch on the audience’s nostalgia.

He said that along with presenting vast music genres, there is a need for performers who can pull on nostalgia in order to better connect with the audience. “If you look at festivals in other countries, they always showcase one classic artist,” said Widi as quoted by kompas.com. 

The festival organizer is still in the process of reaching out to other international artists to take the stage.

Meanwhile, some Indonesian acts that have confirmed to perform include Burgerkill, Efek Rumah Kaca, Dipha Barus and Tulus. (sal/kes)
