ndonesian representatives of PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds (PUBG) Mobile is hosting a game tournament titled "PUBG Mobile 74 Merdeka Dinner" to raise funds for veterans to celebrate the country's 74th Independence Day anniversary.

"As a form of our respect to the veterans in Indonesia who sacrificed their lives and set an example of a strong struggling spirit, patriotism and nationalism, we want to give this appreciation that hopefully can help fill their needs," said PUBG Mobile Indonesia chairman Gaga Li in a statement on Tuesday as quoted by Antara news agency.

Gaga added that the event also aimed to remind the young generation to always remember that the easy life they enjoy today would not have happened without the efforts of veterans.

PUBG Mobile is raising the funds through online fundraising platform Kitabisa.com, titled #74MerdekaDinner with a target of Rp 30 million. On Tuesday afternoon, it raised around Rp 600,000.

The raised funds will be given to the veterans through the Yayasan Sahabat Veteran Indonesia foundation, alongside 50 percent of the tournament's total cash prize of Rp 44 million.

According to the foundation's chairman, Kriswiyanto Muliawan, PUBG Mobile was the first game ever to cooperate with the organization.

PUBG Mobile 74 Merdeka Dinner itself will kick off on Aug. 15 and feature the Merah Putih Showdown competition, Community Battle Cup and Influencer Grand Prix, which will be joined by 20 influencers. (ran/kes)
