T

he brother of Jeff Bezos’s girlfriend is refusing to back down from a defamation claim against the founder of Amazon.com Inc.

Michael Sanchez, whose sister Lauren is dating Bezos, sued him in California state court last week. According to the lawsuit, the billionaire and his security consultant Gavin de Becker told journalists that Sanchez was the one who provided intimate photographs of Bezos to the National Enquirer, which revealed his affair as Bezos and his wife announced the end of their marriage.

Bezos responded on Monday with a request that the case be dismissed. He said the suit failed to point to a single instance of him making the claims Sanchez alleged.

“Michael’s lawsuit speaks for itself,” his attorney, Enoch Liang, said in response to Bezos’s dismissal request.

Court files show a hearing on the dismissal request has been scheduled for June 16 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The case is Sanchez v Bezos, 20STCV04212, California Superior Court, Los Angeles County (Los Angeles).
