ndonesian designer Hian Tjen is set to showcase his couture collection at Milan Fashion Week on Saturday at Palazzo Visconti in Milan, Italy.
Sponsored by creative platform Emerging Talents Milan, 34-year-old Hian will feature a collection dubbed Perfect1on, which uses a modern twist to pay homage to women of the Amish community, known for living a traditional lifestyle.
“The Amish intrigue me because they make the most beautiful handicrafts,” wrote Hian on his official Instagram account.
According to a statement, the collection will showcase designs in earthy tones that combine different elements and symbols, including animals and plants, as well as various techniques like embroidery, hand quilting and beading.
Prior to Milan Fashion Week, Perfect1on was showcased in Jakarta on Aug. 28, a date that coincided with the West Kalimantan-born designer's 10th anniversary in the industry. (wir/kes)
