Agnez Mo, Didi Kempot among winners at the Billboard Indonesia Music Awards 2020

ingers Agnez Mo and Didi Kempot were named among the winners of the 2020 Billboard Indonesia Music Awards, held on Thursday at Studio RCTI+ in West Jakarta.
Wearing a black suit, Agnez won the award for the Top Social Artist of The Year. “I wondered about the Top Social Artist of the Year and what did it mean, considering I’m an anti-social person. But I think it's about what you choose to do and what you choose to share on your social media platform. So let's focus on using social platforms to be a better people,” Agnez said in her acceptance speech.
Kompas.com reported that Agnez also performed her songs during the night, including “NANANA” and “Diamonds”.
Didi Kempot received the Lifetime Achievement award and dedicated the trophy to Indonesian traditional artists.
In recent months, Didi rose to national fame with his campur sari (a blend of traditional Javanese and modern music) songs, especially among the youth.
Known as the Godfather of Broken Hearts for using lovelorn Javanese lyrics in his songs, Didi performed “Pamer Bojo” with singer Isyana Sarasvati at the award ceremony.
Singer Andmesh won the most awards at the event, winning three trophies for the Top 100 Song of the Year for “Hanya Rindu”, Top Streaming song of the Year (Audio) for “Cinta Luar Biasa” and Top Streaming Song of the Year (Video) for “Cinta Luar Biasa”.
The singer expressed his hope that he would stay motivated and continue singing. “I’m still young, I’ve only been in the Indonesian music industry for three years,” he said.
The event was the first edition of the Billboard Indonesia Music Awards, a collaboration between Billboard Indonesia and privately owned TV channel Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI).
As quoted from Billboard Indonesia, the nominees were based on music and video streaming, radio airplay, karaoke and social engagements from February to December 2019 across Indonesia.
Winners were chosen by public vote, which took place from Jan. 20 to Feb. 20 on RCTI's social media accounts. (wir/wng)
