merican music collective 88rising announced on Thursday that it has postponed Asia Rising: Summer Edition, a music festival that was scheduled to be streamed on May 29 on video sharing platform TikTok.
“Due to timing constraints with schedules, we have decided to postpone the ‘Asia Rising’ stream,” wrote 88rising on Twitter. “We’ll be back with some news and amazing live performances shortly!”

According to rappler.com and the festival’s posters that circulated on social media, Asia Rising: Summer Edition was to feature Indonesian singers Stephanie Poetri and NIKI, Korean-American musician Audrey Nuna, American rapper Dumbfoundead, Filipino-Australian singer Ylona Garcia, Korean rapper Zico and Thai actor Bright Vachirawit, among others.

The festival also named Korean boyband A.C.E, Korean singer Choi Yoo-jung, Korean singer CHUNG HA and Korean choreographer-model Mina Myoung as special guests.
The festival’s initial line-up included rapper and member of K-Pop boyband GOT7, Jackson Wang, but he was unable to perform due to scheduling issues.
On May 7, 88rising held the virtual Asia Rising Forever festival, which featured 23 artists, including Stephanie Poetri and Indonesia-born rapper Rich Brian, who performed from their own places of quarantine. The festival was streamed on 88rising’s Twitter and YouTube accounts, with more than 3 million viewers tuning in. It also raised funds for the nonprofit Asian Americans Advancing Justice. (wir/wng)
