The microcinema will host the online Indonesian premiere of Postcards From the Zoo, the 2012 film by renowned director Edwin, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Jakarta-based microcinema Kinosaurus is launching its online version, Kinosaurus Virtual Cinema, on Friday.
To celebrate the launch, Kinosaurus will host the online Indonesian premiere of Postcards From the Zoo, the 2012 film by renowned director Edwin, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The surreal Postcards From the Zoo centers around Lana, who was abandoned in a zoo when she was 3 years old. She is raised by a giraffe trainer until one day, a magician arrives and Lana feels ready to explore the world outside the zoo.
It won the Silver Hanoman Award in the 2012 Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival and was in competition in the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in February 2012 and the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, among other movie events.
The film will be presented in Video on Demand (VoD) and audiences can watch it together as a live show, as well as use a chat box to give comments or shout-outs. A live discussion on the platform will follow the screening, featuring Edwin.
Established in 2015, Kinosaurus routinely held screenings and discussions on independent films. The onsite microcinema was closed in early December, and on Friday, it introduced a pop-up cinema at dia.lo.gue in Kemang, South Jakarta. Further information is available on its social media accounts. (wng)
