JAKARTA: The tourism agency will soon announce the winner of a competition for students to create a concept for the city's tourism industry.
Arie Budhiman, the agency's head, said his agency had held the contest to get an idea of how young people see tourism and to get their input.
"Some of the concepts are good. For example, how to boost shopping, create nightlife, organize meetings and conventions and tour packages. Of course, we can't implement all the concepts, but we're happy to see their enthusiasm," he said.
He said that of about 30 entrants, the jury had short-listed six teams. The winner will be announced on Dec. 11, he said.
The six teams are Ondel-ondel from Pelita Harapan University, Jakartaholic from STIKOM LPSR, the Integrity Team from the Indonesia Banking School and the Optimist Team, JOI Team and the ABC Team from the University of Indonesia.
Arie said the winning concept would be used as input to market the tourism better. -- JP
