ECCA: Hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers overstaying their time in Saudi Arabia were flown home using an empty airplane that had previously taken haj pilgrims to Jeddah.

Cahyono Rustam, consul of information, society, culture at the Indonesian General Consulate in Jeddah, said in a press release made available to news agency Antara that the workers consisted of 345 adults and three children, including two babies.

The migrants departed from King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah on Sunday and were scheduled to arrive on Monday morning. Around 1,600 overstaying migrant workers in Jeddah will be flown home on five flights, with four of those flights scheduled for Oct. 31.

For the second time this year, the Indonesian government has repatriated migrant workers from Jeddah. In February and March, the government flew home 2,079 migrant workers on six flights.

In April, 2,349 workers came home by a Labobar motor boat, owned by PT Pelni. As of October, 17,635 migrant workers have returned to Indonesia.
