ALU: Four Chinese citizens have been arrested by the Immigration Office in Palu, Central Sulawesi, for allegedly misusing their tourist visas.
The head of the office’s immigration action and surveillance section, Amar B, said that two Chinese nationals identified as Pan Zhipei and Pan Zhian were arrested on Monday at a hotel in Palu.
They were accused of buying to cell phones for resale while in Indonesia on a visitors’ visa.
“We found hundreds of cell phones in their bag. They said they were selling the cell phones despite their tourist visas,” Amar said. The suspects would be detained, questioned and deported, he added.
Two other suspects, Wang Jiquan and Wei Liqiu, were nabbed on similar charges on March 2.
Three Chinese nationals, Li Jianshun, Sihua Qin and Zhang Guang Wu, were deported last year for abusing their tourist visas to do business. “This clearly violates the Immigration Law,” Amar said.
