Belaetrix Manuputty is now the only Indonesian player left in the women's singles after the US$700,000 Djarum Indonesia Open second round on Thursday.
The Indonesian ace registered an easy win over Bulgaria's Petya Nedercheva 21-8, 21-15 to clinch her first quarterfinal ticket in a super series premier tournament.
'I watched several videos of her play before the tournament. She turned out to be easy to read,' she said after the match at Istora Senayan.
Being the only survivor in the women's singles, she said, would motivate her further to keep going.
She will play Hong Kong's Yip Pui Yin, a 21-18, 21-18 winner over Japan's Minatsu Mitani, in the
quarterfinal on Friday.
Hera Desi failed to advance, beaten by South Korea's Bae Yeon-ju 21-11, 13-21, 21-17.
Hera blamed the defeat on her indecisiveness in execution.
'I hesitated, particularly in first and third game. Unfortunately I failed to turn over a new leaf,' Hera, who had walked into the second round through fifth seed Ratchanok Intanon's retirement through injury.
However Yeon-ju credited for her opponent's persistence. 'She has strong offense, despite her short stature,' she said.
She said it was a tough first game against Hera, but she quickly learned to improve her game. 'She has weaknesses in coping with short attacks'.
In the women's doubles event, three Indonesian pairs marched to the quarterfinals.
Anneke Feinya Agustin/Della Destiara Haris booked their ticket over India's Pradnya Gadre/Ashwini Ponnappa 21-13, 21-19.
Seventh-seeded Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth/Rizki Amelia Pradipta won 21-19, 19-21, 21-12 over England's Lauren Smith/Gabrielle White while Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii edged out compatriots Gebby Ristiyani Imawan/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah 21-15, 21-18.
The victory testified the Greysia/Nitya's ability to recuperate after the strenuous match against third-seeded Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark the day before.
They were back to court the following morning, beating the weariness to end the day triumphantly.
It will be Indonesia versus China in three of four quarterfinal matches on Friday with Anneke/Della playing China's first-seeded Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang, Pia/Rizki taking on Ma Jin/Tang Jinhua and Nitya/Greysia against Bao Yisin/Cheng Shu.
The fourth match also features Chinese pair with Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei up against Misaki Masumoto/Ayaka Takahashi of Japan.
In the mixed doubles, Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir faced a tough match against Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati before scraping to 12-21, 21-12, 21-11 victory.
'We hadn't tuned in during the first game,' Tontowi said.
Fran was resigned to being outplayed by their opponents. 'We have played our best, but they are better,' said Fran.
Another two Indonesian pairs Riky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili and eighth-seeded Muhammad
Rijal/Debby Susanto also advanced to the quarterfinals.
Tontowi/Liliyana will play Malaysia's Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying; Riky/Richi against China's Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei and Rijal/Debby will face Danes Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen.
