As the daughter of prominent jazz musician Indra Lesmana and talented actress-model Sophia Latjuba, Eva Celia Lesmana is a living, breathing epitome of the entertainment world.
But in Eva's case, she goes the extra mile to improve the already present talent in her blood.
'I attend music school and take vocal performance and piano lessons. But, I've decided to take a break from that to focus on my career,' said Eva, 21, who goes to the Musician Institute in Los Angeles.
Eva is currently busy promoting her latest feature film, Adriana, which is her mother's first outing as a producer. Eva plays Adriana, one of three main characters in the movie by director Fajar Nugros, released on Nov. 7.
The role was made for Eva, as her mother admitted. She, however, took the job professionally and delivered it flawlessly.
'I've learned so much during filming. To work with the director, producers and cast, it has been invaluable learning for me personally,' Eva says.
As proof of her dedication to acting, Eva had cut her flowing locks to strengthen her character in the film
'I've been brought up in more of a music background rather than acting. So, yes, acting is definitely a real challenge for me,' she says. 'I feel more comfortable in singing, because that is how I've been raised. But, I do enjoy acting, I really, really like it.'
Having her mother on the set of Adriana, Sophia helped her daughter polish her acting.
'Actually, I don't mind at all [to have my mother correcting my acting] because we have the same taste. And, I know that whatever she does will be good for me. So, it has been a fun experience.'
Eva confessed she was actually quite an introvert. 'To be honest, I'm a shy person and being surrounded [by media people who ask questions] isn't comfortable for me. But, I'm working on that ' I've got to increase my self-esteem,' she said.
Before going to the music school, she received much attention for her strong talent following her laudable performances: Eva first set foot in the entertainment business at the age of eight.
Eva has undertaken several TV-based series and films such as Sherina and Cinta Dalam Sepasang Sepatu (Love in a Pair of Shoes); as well as two previous motion pictures, Takut: Faces of Fear and Jamila dan Sang Presiden (Jamila and The President).
On the music side, Eva is already on another level, jamming with her old man often, including at this year's Java Jazz music festival, Eva found chemistry in Indra's rhythms.
The perfect father and daughter collaboration was extended in Adriana, as Eva helped Indra to write lyrics and sang on some of the movie's soundtrack songs.
'My father and I are a solid team. He knows what I like, I know what he likes,' she says.
'When we made the soundtrack songs, I knew he would make great music. It was a quick process, because we are comfortable working together. My father started to make the album in June, while I entered the studio about a month ago. In just one day, I finished my recordings for three tracks.'
Next stop, Eva plans to release a solo album next year. She will be working on the project with her father. 'It's not going to be anything jazz,' said the self-proclaimed couch potato who loves to eat, read and ride horses in her spare time, the latter activity helping her maintain her petite body.
Nevertheless, Eva has not shut the door of opportunity for future film projects.
'My basic principle is perhaps similar to other actors. The film must have a great story, a character that is open to development and a fantastic working team.
'Other than that, it's all about luck. If it isn't meant to be, it won't happen no matter how hard I want it.'
