AKARTA: Jayapura-based Persipura has advanced to the final of the Indonesian Super League (ISL) after defeating Pelita Bandung Raya 2-0 in the semifinals at the Jakabaring Stadium in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Tuesday. The match was aired live on RCTI.
Boaz Solossa scored twice, in the 68th and 71st minutes.
After a relatively slow game in the first half, both teams gathered pace after the break, with Persipura capitalizing with a quick offensive.
The first goal came with an assist from Roni Beroperay, whose cross found the well-placed Boaz to latch the ball into the net.
Three minutes later, Boaz scored his second from a free kick.
Persipura's opponent in the final will be either Persib Bandung or Arema Cronus, who played their semifinal match later in the day. Persib marched to the semifinals as Group 2 winner while Arema finished second in Group 1 behind Persipura.
The final will be held at Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Friday.
