Following her dazzling performance to impress the panel of judges in the Asia's Next Top Model contest on Wednesday night, Indonesian model Ayu Gani, 23, says she wants to pursue her dream career in London.
Through her Twitter account (@ganegani), Ayu told her supporters that she would move to London to join model agency Storm.
"[I] have to go to London with Storm. Hopefully, I can make it there and do well in Europe," she tweeted, referring to one of the largest modeling agencies in London, Storm Model Management.
As the winner of the contest, Ayu brought home a Subaru XV STI car and is entitled to get a contract with the Storm agency in addition to becoming brand ambassador for hair treatment product TRESemme and appearing in the cover of Singapore's Harper's Bazaar magazine.
Ayu who previously studied English literature at the Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta before pursuing her fashion business at La Salle College in Jakarta, did not detail when she would depart to London and how long she would stay there.
Ayu outshone two other finalists Marlene Monika Sta Maria from the Philippines and Aimee Rose Cheng-Bradshaw from Singapore in the final round as the judges favored Gani for her amazing performance in the last two tests, which challenged all contestants in a photo shoot and runway walk wearing haute couture dresses.
"I feel so proud, naturally, to be the first Indonesian winner, and I hope Indonesia will win again," she broadcast from her Twitter account after the announcement. (dmr)(++++)
