The Jakarta administration will revoke the permit of a Metromini bus route after a bus hit two people and claimed one life in West Jakarta, a city official said on Wednesday.
Andri Yansyah, Jakarta's transportation office chief, said that his office would immediately process the permit suspension of the B92 Metromini bus serving Ciledug to Grogol without waiting for a court verdict.
"From now on, if there are accidents like this, we will revoke it [the permit] directly," he said as quoted by newsportal kompas.com.
A Metromini bus driven by Denny Irawan, 36, ran at a high speed and hit two pedestrians, Muntiarsih, 35, and her son Azam Flamboyan, 7, in Meruya, West Jakarta on Wednesday morning.
The incident killed Azam while Muntarsih suffered heavy injuries and was taken to Permata Hijau Hospital.
Kompas.com reported that the Jakarta Police had named Denny a suspect and said that problems with the brakes most likely caused the accident.
The Jakarta administration had suspended at least 1,600 Metromini buses following a crash that killed 18 people when a bus drove into the path of a commuter train near the Angke station in West Jakarta earlier this month. (rin)
