he newly appointed Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chairman Thomas "Tom" Lembong has expressed his excitement about his new role, emphasizing that investment plays a key role in boosting the economy.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in his second Cabinet shake-up reassigned Thomas to take the helm of the investment board, leaving his initial position as trade minister.
Former Real Estate Indonesia (REI) chairman Enggartiasto Lukito took over Thomas’ position at the ministry.
"I’m very excited with this new task at the BKPM. The President often points out that investment is a crucial part of the economy. That will be my job at the BKPM," he said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday after the inauguration of new ministers.
He applauded the President's decision to appoint Enggartiasto as the new trade minister, noting Enggartiasto’s experience in the domestic economy through REI. "I think he’s a good choice for trade minister," Tom said. (ags)
