ali governor I Made Pangku Pastika has promoted tourism in Bali to convening officials from 57 members of Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
Speaking to the 3rd IDB Member Countries Sovereign Investment Forum in Nusa Dua on Monday, Pastika told the story about Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who spent his vacation in Bali with an entourage of 1,500 people on March 2 after a state visit in Jakarta.
The king actually stayed longer than planned as he extended his holiday by three days until March 12, from March 9 in his initial schedule.
"I think the king’s holiday extension will help promote Bali as a safe tourism destination," Pastika said, adding that the IDB meeting would also promote the province as a site for world-class meetings and conventions.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya earlier said that King Salman’s footsteps in Bali’s tourism spots will also be recorded and branded “The King Salman Road” to lure visitors, especially from the Middle East.
Pastika further invited IDB members to invest in Bali, particularly in the development of infrastructure, such as airports and international sports facilities.
According to data from Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute, as of last June, there are 79 sovereign wealth funds worldwide with total assets of US$7.37 trillion. Out of the figure, 32 sovereign wealth funds belong to IDB members with overall assets of $3.32 trillion. (lnd)
