ransportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has stressed that his office has not revoked the license for Qatar Airways, denying rumours that have circulated since Tuesday in the wake of rift between Arab Gulf countries.
Previously, Antara reported that Budi would revoke Qatar Airways’ license and would give it back when the tension had abated.
“There was no revocation. There were only transfers of Indonesian passengers who want to perform umrah (minor haj pilgrimage) flying with Qatar Airways to other airlines,” Budi said on Wednesday.

He said the passenger transfer to other airlines was the result of the diplomatic crisis between Qatar and several Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain, resulting in a ban on Qatar Airways flying to the aforementioned countries.
“Qatar Airways can still serve flights to and from Indonesia to the countries that don’t have any diplomatic issue with Qatar,” he added. (bbn)
