T

he Solo-Kertosono (Soker) toll road will be open for holiday travelers from June 8 to 24, or seven days prior to Idul Fitri until eight days after the Islamic holiday.

All entrance gates for the Soker toll road will be open, from Ngasem Colomadu and Klodran to Karanganyar, Kebakramat and Sragen. However, the Salatiga-Ngasem functional line of the toll road will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. only.

“The Ngasem-Sragen toll road is open. It already has street lights; so, it can remain open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. But the functional line will be open from the morning to the afternoon only because of limited facilities,” said state toll road operator Jasamarga Solo Ngawi (JSN) administration manager Patahillah on Wednesday.

Patahillah admitted there was a difference of opinion between JSN and the police, who wanted the functional toll road to be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the operational line to be open from 6 a.m. until midnight.

“We are still discussing the matter with the relevant institutions regarding the availability of road lights and toll road security guards,” said Patahillah.

He predicted the number of vehicles entering Surakarta, Central Java, during this year’s Idul Fitri holiday would reach 8 million, up from 7.8 million last year. (ebf)
