AG, an air travel intelligence company based in the United Kingdom, named Soekarno-Hatta International Airport the second most connected airport in the Asia-Pacific.
In a press release issued by state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) on Monday, the connectivity index of the airport stood at 249, just four points lower than Changi International Airport in Singapore.
The connectivity of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is higher than Incheon Airport in South Korea, Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia and Hong Kong International Airport.
“Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is among the world's busiest airports with 63 million passengers in 2017,” said AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin in Tangerang, Banten.
He said his company would continuously improve the service of the airport and optimize its potential.
This year, the airport is projected to welcome 68 million passengers, he said, adding that AP II would continue to develop infrastructure to increase capacity, including an east cross taxiway, runway 3, the revitalization of terminal 1 and 2 as well as the construction of terminal 4.
“With the development of infrastructure, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will support the growth of tourism and the country’s economy,” he added.
OAG calculates the index based on inbound and outbound international flights within a period of six hours. (bbn)
