Bunda Mulia University (UBM) student identified as R, 20, was found dead at the university compound on Jl. Lodan Raya, Ancol subdistrict, Pademangan district, North Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon from an apparent suicide.

Pademangan Police chief Comr. Julianthy said R was believed to have jumped to death from the 12th floor of a campus building.

"We have checked the CCTV recording, which shows that the victim used the elevator to get to the 10th floor, then climbed the stairs alone to the 12th floor," Julianthy told reporters, as quoted by kompas.com.

Julianthy said no witnesses had come forward. R’s body was found in the building’s parking lot.

R had not exhibited any suicidal tendencies, Julianthy added.

The victim hailed from Makassar, South Sulawesi and lived in the university’s student dormitory. (ars)
