he National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) manage to locate two German tourists who went missing upon climbing Mount Lokon in Tomohon, North Sulawesi.

Manado Basarnas spokesman Feri Ariyanto said the German tourists were staying at Tomohon Highland Resort and started climbing on Wednesday without notifying the resort staff.

However, on Thursday, the foreigners contacted the resort at 1 a.m local time by sending their last coordinates through the German Consulate in Makassar. The resort staff then learned that their missing guests were lost on the mountain. Feri said Basarnas received the information at 5:50 a.m. local time, and departed to evacuate them at 6:15 a.m.

“We already knew their location when we conducted the search, so we only needed to recover them,” he said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday. (dpk)
