Tauberes serves as a marketplace for courier service providers such as J&T Express, Si Cepat, Pos Indonesia, Lion Parcel, Aero Express and SAP
ational flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has launched an online booking platform for air cargo-based delivery services, which the company claims to be the first online booking platform for delivery services in the country’s aviation industry.
The online platform, called Tauberes, serves as a marketplace for courier service providers such as J&T Express, Si Cepat, Pos Indonesia, Lion Parcel, Aero Express and SAP. The Tauberes platform connects courier companies with air cargo providers and end customers.
Garuda Indonesia’s director for cargo and business development, who is also the commissioner of Tauberes, Mohammad Iqbal, said that through the booking platform, customers or senders could choose which courier company they would like to use to send their package. Customers can also compare the prices offered by courier companies before making a booking as the price of each service will be displayed in one interface.
Tauberes alone could create a collaborative ecosystem between the courier companies and air cargo providers, which could make air cargo-based delivery faster, more efficient and cheaper, Iqbal said on Sept. 11.
“In the past, same-day delivery [using air cargo] was quite difficult and expensive. With this platform, hopefully, there will be more same-day delivery services at a cheaper price,” he said
Iqbal said that in the past, same-day delivery services were expensive because courier companies needed to pay a charge for 10 kg even if the package weighed less than 10 kg, thus making the service much more expensive.
“However, with the Tauberes booking platform, we will eliminate the 10 kg minimum rule. Packages being delivered through Tauberes will also be differentiated from regular packages at the airport, and we will also provide a different warehouse to cater to deliveries made through Tuberes at the airport. So, this platform will benefit courier companies and customers” said Iqbal.
