ATM-like machines for civil documents introduced to streamline complicated procedures

ny resident knows that dealing with procedures to get civil documents can be complicated and time consuming, as people often get asked to go back and forth before receiving their. In a bid to replace the notorious old procedures, the Home Ministry has introduced automated machines for civil documents called Anjungan Dukcapil Mandiri (ADMs) to facilitate civil document printing in a quick and easy way.
The ATM-like machines will initially target residents in the capital city Jakarta next year, with a main priority for the islanders in the Thousand Islands regency, which lacks access to population and civil registry offices.
Jakarta Population and Civil Registry Agency head Dhany Sukma said the city administration would prioritize ADMs for residents on two out of 11 islands in the regency, namely Sabira Island and Pari Island, which were far from their subdistrict center.
“We will provide one ADM for each of the two islands. Then, we will send two to each administrative city in Jakarta, placed in strategic areas that can be easily reached by residents who have lots of office activities,” Dhany told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
ADMs will enable residents to print various civil documents, ranging from electronic identification cards (e-KTP), family cards (KK) and child identity cards (KIA) to birth and death certificates.
The Home Affairs Ministry’s Population and Civil Registry Directorate General will include the procurement of the ADM machines in an electronic catalog so that each region in the country can purchase them as needed next year.
Director General Zudan Arid Fakrulloh said the ADM procurement would be included in the 2020 City Budget (APBD), with a proposed budget of Rp 15 billion (US$1.06 million) to House Commission II and the Finance Ministry.
