A team for the governor has presented its recommendations for developing coastal areas in North Jakarta.
he Governor’s Team for Accelerated Development (TGUPP) has handed over its plan for coastal area management to the Jakarta administration.
Marco Kusumawijaya, who until recently headed the TGUPP’s coastal management committee, presented his team’s findings and recommendations, which address seven main issues faced by North Jakarta, at City Hall on Monday.
Marco announced his resignation from the post on Dec. 1, saying the team’s tasks had been completed and he would focus on writing a book.
The seven points are interconnectivity, public beaches, waste management and sanitation, coastal ecosystem improvement, land subsidence, decent housing as well as port and bay arrangement.
“In early January, the [TGUPP] will hold a media briefing to reveal further details of the plan,” Marco said.
The project affects six districts of North Jakarta, namely Penjaringan, Pademangan, Tanjung Priok, Koja and Cilincing.
According to the plan, the western and eastern parts of North Jakarta will be connected by railway-based and road-based public transportation – such as the commuter line, the MRT, the LRT and Transjakarta buses. Sidewalks in the municipality are to be revamped as well.
