he House of Representatives will soon set the list of priority bills to be deliberated in the current sitting, Speaker Puan Maharani said on Monday.
Speaking at a plenary session to start the third sitting of the 2020-2021 term, Puan said that setting priorities for the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) was important as the starting point to deliberating bills.
She added that in the third sitting the House would also deliberate four bills on the state civilian apparatus, the Indonesian continental shelf, special autonomy for Papua province and ratification of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Free Trade Association member states.
The public always keeps a close eye on the legislative function in measuring the House’s performance, Puan said, calling all House members to be fully committed to designing and setting the Prolegnas priority list.
“And be committed to finishing a number of bills already being deliberated,” added Puan, who is a lawmaker from the ruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
Also attending the plenary session were deputy speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad from the Gerindra Party, Azis Syamsuddin from the Golkar Party and Rachmat Gobel from the Nasdem Party.
Puan said the plenary session was attended by 383 lawmakers of a total of 575, who attended the event both physically and virtually.
