t ONE 157, two World Titles were up for grabs and the quarterfinals of the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world grand prix went down – but not before Indonesia’s Elipitua Siregar put him back in the win column.
On Friday, May 20, Siregar scored a first-round submission of Robin Catalan in their strawweight MMA clash, sinking in an anaconda choke at 2:58 of the first round to maintain a 100 percent finishing rate.
In the main event of the evening, Petchmorakot Petchyindee had to work hard to keep Jimmy Vienot from grabbing his ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title as the Frenchman dominated the start of the fight.
Vienot dumped his Thai foe to the ground and landed head kicks that made it difficult for Petchmorakot to find his rhythm.
However, as the fight progressed, Petchmorakot gained energy as Vienot started to fade. In the fourth round, the world champion delivered a cross to his opponent that left him on the receiving end of an eight-count.
While the fight was close, Petchmorakot was declared winner via a split decision. His performance kept his belt safe and earned him a US$50,000 performance bonus.

The co-main event saw a new world champion rise in an unexpected way.
Joseph Lasiri beat defending ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion Prajanchai PK.Saenchai by a third-round TKO.
Once Lasiri found his footing, he dropped a flurry of combinations that damaged Prajanchai and made it difficult for him to respond to his opponent’s strikes. This led the Thai to not want to return to the Circle after the third round.
Lasiri thus earned the ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title and a $50,000 performance bonus.
In the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world grand prix quarterfinals, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Walter Goncalves, Superlek Kiatmoo9, and Savvas Michael all advanced to the semifinals.
