View all search resultsThe camp of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has expressed the wish to cut the use of coal and to revamp the 35,000 megawatt (MW) electricity program if Prabowo and running mate Sandiaga Uno are elected in the April election.
State-owned electricity company PLN is targeting to complete 3,963 megawatts (MW) installed capacity this year to reach 7,000 MW installed capacity or 20 percent of the 35,000 MW electricity program introduced by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo four years ago.
The ambitious 35,000 megawatt (MW) electricity program kicked off in 2015, but has yet to contribute significantly to the electricity supply. Only 2,800 MW of the power plants in the program were in operation as of December.
