View all search resultsThe country reported 11,397 infections and 101 deaths on Sunday, bringing the cumulative total to 403,386 cases and 3,341 fatalities, the vast majority from an outbreak since early April that is being fuelled by the highly transmissible Alpha and Delta COVID-19 variants.
The report came on the same day as Thailand is kicking off a program to revive tourism on Phuket, which has seen far fewer cases than the mainland after Thailand prioritized vaccinations for the population of the resort island.
The 15 are among many workers at the site in Laksi district of northern Bangkok who were found to be infected with the coronavirus, mostly the ordinary strain, according to Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration.
