View all search resultsThe general election is still a month away but for some residents the voting has already begun, as on Sunday over a hundred members of the Jakarta Urban Poor Network cast their ballots to select legislative candidates hoping to win their support.
The Gerindra Party has removed the name of Jakarta city councillor Mohamad Taufik from its list of potential legislative candidates after being instructed to do so by Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) because Taufik has a graft record.
Jakarta Legislative Council members will continue to discuss a bylaw on financial rights and the authority of city councilors, which stipulates, among others things, increases to their allowances, even though this is not included in the 2017 Jakarta legislation program (Prolegda).
