View all search resultsThe Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI) is soon to formally elect Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan as its new chief, replacing acting chief Zacky Anwar Makarim, who was entrusted with the leadership baton following PASI’s influential chief Mohammad "Bob" Hasan, who died on March 31 last year.
Zacky, who is a senior member of the association, was elected unanimously by a panel of the association’s top members. Uncle of current education minister Nadiem Makarim, Zacky is tasked with continuing Bob Hasan’s legacy and safeguarding athletes’ preparations for next year’s Tokyo Olympics and also other competitions, at least until the association’s current board completes its term in December.
Disaster struck when national archer Riau Ega Agatha, 27, found out the case of his bow was broken when he reached the Netherlands in June. He was part of the Indonesian archery squad that competed at the 2019 World Archery Championships in Hertogenbosch.
Sprinter Lalu Muhammad Zohri’s hot streak of form, in which he has seized victory after victory — including qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics — has been a breath of fresh air for the Indonesia Athletics Federation (PASI).
