View all search resultsState-owned oil and gas giant Pertamina and Malaysia’s Petronas have officially acquired Shell’s 35 percent participating interest in the Masela oil and gas block in Maluku, which also includes the Abadi gas project, for US$650 million.
The government is considering having Pertamina buy Shell’s 35 percent stake in the Abadi liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the Masela Block, but experts say financial constraints in dealing with multiple giant projects may make that a difficult prospect for the state-owned company.
Pari Island Care Forum (FP3) chairman Mustahgfirin said the oil waste had polluted 2 kilometers of the southern coast of the island. If collected, he said, the waste could reach 50 tons.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry expects the oil and gas industry to raise $127.3 billion in investments this year, which is lower than last year’s target of $159.8 billion and of which only 72 percent was realized.
Pertamina Hulu Energi representatives told reporters in Jakarta on Friday that its relief well has reached a depth of 2,730 meters, which is a few days shy from hitting the targeted depth of 2,736 meters, where it is to intercept and seal the leaking well.
