View all search resultsIndonesia has vowed to provide humanitarian assistance to 43 Tamil migrants from Sri Lanka stranded in Aceh and connect them with the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR), having permitted them to come ashore after a week of attempting to force them back out to sea.
An Aceh-based nongovernmental organization is calling for the government to allow dozens of Tamils from Sri Lanka who are stranded in Aceh to remain while they regain their strength before continuing on their trip to Australia, as well as to allow them to meet humanitarian organizations for aid and assistance.
