The Jakarta Association of Entertainment Entrepreneurs (Asphija) head, Hana Suryani, said the association would stage a bigger rally if the Jakarta administration failed to grant its request.
Jakarta officially extended its period of COVID-19 social restrictions by another 14 days late on Thursday, amid the continued threat of viral transmission that has led experts to demand better containment efforts and stricter punishment for violators of protocol.
As a consequence of this extension, the city administration would delay further relaxations, such as the reopening of movie theaters, that were initially scheduled to be implemented at the end of July, said Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
“Do not let this situation reach the point where we have to pull the emergency brake,” Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said. “If that happens, we all have to go back home and economic, religious and social activities will be halted.”
