The Health Ministry has prepared more than 4,000 doses of mpox vaccines and readied dozens of laboratories across the country to test the viral disease, amid the latest global emergency status following the surge of cases in Africa and other regions.
Southeast Asia’s key economies — Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia — can draw valuable lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic to enhance Southeast Asia's strategies for managing mpox and ensuring socioeconomic resilience through robust cooperation.
Mpox was also declared a global health emergency in 2022, and access was again unequal, as vaccines were widely available in regions like Europe and the United States, but there are still none in Africa two years later despite the severity of the ongoing outbreaks.
