Commentary: Preventing deaths from methanol poisoning
Over 100 people have died this year after consuming oplosan (bootleg liquor), mostly in West Java, Greater Jakarta and Papua. At present only health facilities in Bali are known to have a protocol for treating methanol poisoning.

West Java Police personnel have arrested the owner of a factory producing oplosan (bootleg liquor) in Cicalengka, Bandung, West Java, which reportedly killed dozens of people in the regency. The suspect was apprehended at a location at the border of Jambi and South Sumatra on Wednesday.

A factory producing oplosan (bootleg liquor), which has caused the deaths of at least 58 people, has been found located inside the house of a suspect, identified only as SS, on Jl. Raya By Pass in Cicalengka, Bandung regency, West Java.
