As the investigation of the acid attack against Novel Baswedan appears to have stalled, the senior Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator has been accused of faking his left eye injury, an allegation perpetuated by influential users, according to social media analysts.
Local media firm InsightID has made headlines after Facebook released a statement last week saying it had taken down dozens of accounts and pages, primarily for sharing content about West Papua, and found the network was linked to InsightID itself.
While warning the public about the dangers of news portals that produce fake news, the Press Council will also recommend that the government ban portals run by “buzzers” who provide news-like information to boost the image of particular politicians or officials.
