View all search resultsIf approved, the waste from the nickel and cobalt metallurgy industry would be dumped at sea. According to Environmental and Forestry Minister Regulation No. 18/2018, deep sea tailings must be dumped outside of “sensitive areas” with standard levels of water quality, where the thermocline layer (where water temperatures rapidly decline) is at least 100 meters below the surface and where seabed canyons would allow the tailings to sink to depths of 200 m or more.
The presenter had to return to his home country as his work permit to participate on a local rescue mission with a wildlife rescue team to save the trapped crocodile expired.
The crocodile, regularly spotted swimming in the Palu River, had been trapped in a used motorcycle tire for years and has foiled successive attempts to free it, including a recent rescue contest held by the Central Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA).
With the help of a rescue team from the Central Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA Central Sulawesi), the two Australians were able to track the animal twice as it appeared on a sand dune at the river mouth.
