The Jakarta administration is set to include milk and mackerel in its food subsidy program next year following a significant increase in the budget for the subsidy, which is now Rp 885.5 billion (US$ 65 million) up from Rp 190 billion in 2017.
The government has allocated a food subsidy of Rp 19.8 trillion (US$1.5 billion) in next year’s budget to be distributed in the form of vouchers. The amount, however, is lower than the Rp 22.5 trillion in a similar allocation in 2016.
