To promote financial literacy and inclusion, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has launched the National Financial Literacy Movement (GENCARKAN). This initiative was introduced as part of the Indonesia Savings Day at JIEXPO, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, attended by Arief Mulyadi, president director of PNM, as a keynote speaker.
The manipulation of public opinion through social media is particularly concerning in contexts where internet freedom is limited, as this reduces the availability of diverse information and increases the impacts of propaganda.
ASEAN needs to ramp up its education system to increase digital literacy among students across all member states, ideally through formal education, so the region's future leaders are equipped to engage and thrive in the digital transition.
It is likely that the so-called network effect since the pandemic-era surge in digital transactions has highlighted the challenges that still remain in closing the gap in digital payment adoption between Java and regions outside the major island.
