All eyes will be on President Prabowo Subianto’s administration on Monday with the rollout of the landmark free nutritious meals program, which will focus most of the work on densely populated Java in the first phase of a multiyear effort to improve the nation’s overall nutritional intake.
President Prabowo Subianto has reiterated his commitment to carry out his flagship free meals program immediately and achieve food self-sufficiency by the end of his administration in 2029. The issues were addressed in Prabowo’s first interview with a local news channel after he was sworn into office on Oct. 20.
Among the main tasks of the newly established National Nutrition Agency is to implement the free nutritious meals program, the flagship project of president-elect Prabowo Subianto's campaign platform, which will begin in January 2025.
