View all search resultsIndonesian airlines have expressed optimism that passenger figures on domestic routes are on track to get back to the pre-pandemic level in the first quarter of 2024, nearly a year faster than previously estimated.
"Some countries are now projected to grow faster, some countries are now projected to grow slower. What is the difference? It is primarily the speed and effectiveness of vaccinations and availability of fiscal space to act," said IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva.
Batavia Prosperindo Aset Manajemen has forecast the country's GDP growth to range from 0.5 percent to a 0.5 percent contraction, compared with the government’s projection of 2.3 percent growth this year, or a 0.4 percent contraction in the worst-case scenario.
“If decisive actions to contain the health and economic impacts of the outbreak, particularly to safeguard the poor and vulnerable, can be effectively implemented, the economy is expected to gradually return to its growth trajectory next year," ADB country director for Indonesia Winfried Wicklein said.
Bank Indonesia (BI) will further slash the nation’s benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points (bps) in 2020 to stoke economic growth amid weak domestic demand that was dragged down by a slowdown in investment, according to projections by Fitch Solutions Macro Research.
