View all search resultsIndonesia is the second-largest producer and exporter of rubber and the fourth-largest producer of coffee and cocoa globally. The three commodities combined comprised about US$1.88 billion of the country’s total exports.
Over a period of four months that started Monday, Indonesia is to slash rubber exports by 98,160 tons. Malaysia started on the same date and plans to cut 15,600 tons, whereas Thailand, the world’s largest rubber producer, will cut 126,240 tons of rubber exports starting May 20.
Research organization Perkumpulan Prakasa has revealed that the Indonesian government has lost about US$11 million in state revenue as $142.07 billion worth of key commodities was exported illegally from 1989 to 2017.
