View all search resultsThe Jakarta administration plans to build two additional rusunawa (low-cost rental apartment complexes) and revitalize an existing one in the coming years to address the capital’s housing backlog, with experts stressing that the projects must be easily accessible and located near economic hubs to attract tenants.
Construction of KS Tubun was completed in 2017, after two years of lying vacant, the apartment complex will be officially launched by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in August along with 11 other low-cost apartment complexes across the city to provide a total of 9,430 available units. The apartments are part of the city’s plan to build 14,564 low-cost apartment units in the next five years for low-income families.
The children face the very real possibility that they may not be able to attend school under the school zoning system, which was introduced five years after their families were relocated to the low-cost apartments in 2012.
