View all search resultsJapanese cement producer Taiheiyo Cement Corporation has announced its interest in buying a stake in a subsidiary of state-controlled cement producer PT Semen Indonesia to establish a strategic partnership.
In the last five years the number of cement producers in Indonesia has doubled to 14. Most of the new players come from China, such as Conch Cement, Jui Shin, Panasia, Haohan Cement and Cement Hippo. Thanks to their arrival in the market, the country’s cement production capacity has surged to 108 million tons a year, making Indonesia the largest producer in SEAsia.
State-owned cement maker Semen Indonesia is expecting to strengthen its position as a market leader following the purchase of shares of publicly listed cement producer Holcim Indonesia through its subsidiary, Semen Indonesia Industri Bangunan (SIIB).
State-owned cement producer PT Semen Indonesia (SI) president director Hendi Prio Santoso says the company will be able to produce 53 million tons of cement following the company’s acquisition of PT Holcim Indonesia.
