View all search resultsJakarta’s plan to expand smoke-free zones and tighten cigarette sales regulations has been met with strong pushback from business groups, who warn that the new rules could eat into revenues and disrupt livelihoods.
The Surakarta City Hall, Central Java, has been declared a cigarette smoke free area as of June 1. In addition to citing health reasons, the Surakarta administration said the smoke-free zone was also implemented as part of its plan to make Surakarta a child-friendly city.
